    Understanding the Feather Fins Range

    Understanding the Feather Fins Range

A run down of how to navigate the feather fins range and find the right fin for you

Feather Fins, based out of Portugal, is one of our favourite European fin brands. Feather Fins offer an extensive selection of fins in a wide range of materials and templates. This article aims to give an overview of the Feather Fins range to help you understand which fin best suits your needs whether it's speed or control, fast pivots or carving turns.

Feather Fins uses advanced materials providing a varying flex pattern to cater to a range of conditions and surfers. You can group these as follows (ordered from most flexible to most stiff):

    Superlight

Designed for maximum flexibility and lightweight performance, these fins are ideal for surfers seeking a forgiving and responsive ride in smaller waves.

    Ultralight

A step up in stiffness compared to Superlight, these fins use lightweight materials while maintaining a balanced flex for versatile performance.

    Ultralight Hexa Core

Incorporates a hexagonal core structure to reduce weight while offering improved stiffness and responsiveness compared to standard Ultralight fins.

    Ultralight Epoxy Hexa Core

Combines the hexagonal core with epoxy resin for enhanced durability and stiffness, making these fins suitable for high-performance surfing.

    Fibreglass

Traditional fins made by layering fiberglass cloth and resin resulting in a stiff fin.

In terms of fin templates the majority of Feather Fins catalogue have a relatively raked template somewhere between an FCS/Futures neutral and carving fin. There are a few more upright pivot templates in the catalogue also, as shown in the table below.

Beyond thruster sets, Feather Fins have some great twin sets and a few really nice single fin options particularly for mid-length boards.

The table below shows how these characteristics combine and gives example fins you can find in the library:
